Perhaps the best bun cha restaurant in Hanoi
tumbleweeds reviewed Bun Cha Nem Cua Be Dac Kim about 05/03/2013 09:18 AM 10.0
I love bun cha, I really do! So, I've made it a point to research bun cha restaurants in Hanoi (tough job, but someone has to do it!) to find the best place to have this Hanoi specialty. So far, this places beats the competition, hands-down. What makes it better? Well, the seating is nicer here. There are a few levels and they actually do keep the place light and airy and reasonably clean, which seems a bit unusual for this type of restaurant. Their pork meat is much leaner than I've had elsewhere, too - enough fat to make it tasty, but very little gristle or throw-away parts. And those pork sausage patties are the absolute best that I've come across. The nem isn't the best that I've had, but it's still very good and compliments the other ingredients well - you have to ask for it if you want it, as they don't automatically provide it. So, you get a generous helping of bun (noodles), all the usual greens (that are promptly refilled if you start getting low) and the two pork meats, along with nuoc cham dipping sauce. Service is pleasant here and you don't feel rushed to hurry up and leave your table for the next group.

I admit that the serving size of pork is a bit smaller than I've seen elsewhere, but it's still enough so that you won't leave hungry, even if you have a "western appetite." For only 50,000 dong (without the nem), this is a great value and a "must visit" place if you're hunting for the best bun cha. They understand what it takes to make a great bun cha!

I've never seen many foreigners here - it's definitely a place that derives most (almost all) of its business from locals. But if you're a foreigner, they'll make sure that you feel welcome.

It's easy to find - just a few meters past the front of the Hang Da Market - look for Duong Thanh Street and it's a short ways down on your left.
